If you want to access Google Docs, you can either click "New" in your drive, or you can go to docs.google.com
This is what you are shown when you create a new Google Doc, without all the arrows and boxes. Those have been included to explain the functions of all the items on the toolbar. With a Google Doc, you can do anything from changing the font color to increasing the margin size. One key feature of Google Docs is the three different modes the document can be viewed in:
Editing - This is your basic editing mode. You can put in text and change the features of the document much like Microsoft Word. This mode gives the most variety in tools and options for you to choose from.
Suggesting - This mode makes it much easier for you or another person to see or make revisions to your document. Each revision can be accepted, denied, or commented on when it is suggested. In order for someone else to give suggestions to the document.
Viewing - This mode offers you the least amount of options, yet it gives you the least amount of distractions. With this option, the toolbar and other features are hidden, so the document can be viewed and present much more easily.
If you want another person to view, give suggestions, or edit your document, you must first share it with them through their google account.
Some other things to keep in mind are headers and footers. To insert one, click of the "Insert" tab and choose either "Header" or "Footer". Headers and footers allow you to add text higher or lower than you normally can on a page. You can also have them on all the pages in the document, or just certain ones.
